Kids and TV

A half-year-old kid, who does not take his eyes off the screen, where the next issue of news is being transmitted, causes affection. How concentrated he looks and frowns. Does he understand something? Scientists say: absolutely nothing. The children are attracted by a succession of alternating pictures accompanied by sounds.

A three-year-old child, worried about the characters of the cartoon, reacts to what is happening more adequately: he understands what is happening on the screen …. However, this does not mean that he is able to separate the plot of a fairy tale from reality.

By 7-8 years, watching TV becomes more conscious, the child is able to understand what is real and what is not. And only by the age of 11, being a schoolboy, he is able to draw some conclusions, to correlate the actions of characters with real life, that is, to put it simply, to distinguish between good and bad, draw conclusions, analyze the situation.

So, maybe children and TV is not a problem at all? The problem, and even what, scientists say.

The influence of the TV on the child

First, it should be understood that if a child is allowed to watch TV from early childhood, without limiting it in time, he will spend the whole day at the screen. And then it is unlikely that he will learn to distinguish reality from television stories even by 10 years.

Child`s psyche is unstable and malleable, and transfers of more than 50% are filled with violence and aggression. Even an inoffensive at first glance advertising, is capable of extremely exciting the baby, after which he will have to calm down for a long time. After all, during advertising footage replaces each other with great speed, everything is built on dynamics, bright colors and loud sounds. From such effects the child falls into a state similar to a trance.

The child who spends most of the day with the zombayager sits almost motionless, often in an uncomfortable position. As a consequence, his muscles do not develop at all, the development of the osseous system is hampered, even mentioning unnecessarily of various infringements and curvature of the spine.

Any harmful radiation from the TV seems to be unrealistic, but the impact on the eyesight has been thoroughly studied.
The visual apparatus of the child is imperfect and develops quite rapidly. When the kid looks at the real object, certain eye muscles are put into action, which allow him, figuratively speaking, to feel the object.

It`s different with the TV picture. The objects on the screen are moving, the eyes of the child are not. He does not need to strain the right muscles, but others are overextended. Hence the improper development of the organs of vision, which in the future can lead to myopia, other eye disorders.

The action of any movie takes place in a compressed time. If the story has passed a year, then on the screen it can take several minutes. If the hero runs along the road, he will reach its end in a few seconds. We, adults, understand why this is done, because no one will be interested in watching unnecessary details in real time.

The child does not have the same sense of time as an adult, and as a result, from frequent views, he can lose the sense of time altogether. According to researches of scientists, subjective minute in children spending a lot of time watching TV, lasts much longer than real.

The development of speech, the ability to communicate – the necessary skills for any person. All of them are laid in childhood. A child is easier to perceive and remember what he saw than what he heard. On the TV screen, visual images and frequencies prevail, everything is clear even without voice-overs. It is clear that the book does not compare with this effect.

And then the parents are surprised why their child does not want to read, does not remember the teacher`s story at the lesson, does not communicate with peers. He`s just not interested, he`s not used to creating his own images and analyzing the situation. Yes, and his speech, most likely, poorly developed, because without looking at the TV, you can not train a speech device.

It`s just as difficult for him to make decisions, to make choices. A person must have these skills in order to successfully develop, and even just to survive. And here the harmful influence of the TV on the child is obvious. The child,”brought up” by the TV, does not know how to do this. He simply does not need to train, because in movies everything goes according to the scenario, everything is decided in advance.

And if a lot of movies and a story have been reviewed, then the child has many models of behavior for all occasions …. True, chosen and meaningful are not them.

Another integral part of human life is nutrition. People must eat to live, food must be absorbed, so that a person is healthy and receives energy. The child at the TV is very at risk of earning a serious digestive disorder.

During the space of time, the metabolism slows down significantly, however, the brain regions responsible for feeling hungry are raised. That`s why, sitting down in front of the TV, even an adult is trying to grab a sandwich or something else that he can eat during the transfer. That`s where the chips and popcorn are in theaters. And that`s where the image of an immense fat man surrounded by boxes of pizza that does not take his eyes off the screen of the same TV.

And even if a child eats something during the cartoons, it does not bring a feeling of satiety: the brain is busy with the other, namely, the perception of pictures, and he has no time to distract himself in order to convey the signal of saturation. Therefore, food can be delayed for a long time. Digestion, meanwhile, is slowed down, as the body is in a state of complete rest, so food has virtually no chance of being completely digested and well-digested.

After reading all this, you might think that children and TV are not compatible concepts and it is better to throw it out in the trash or not to buy it at all. However, everything is not so clear.

These examples of television`s impact on a child are described for those cases where a child and a TV are an inseparable couple who have been opposite each other for most of the day for many years. However, if you approach the question intelligently, the TV may not be so evil in modern civilization.

Can children watch TV

Doctors and psychologists say that it is still possible. But you need to comply with a number of conditions, if you, of course, strive to ensure that he grew up healthy and normal in every sense of the person.

First of all, of course, it`s worth to limit the viewing time (we will dwell on this in more detail later). Secondly, you need to choose the gears wisely. Logically exclude from the”menu” horror films, adult films and programs, and children under 7 years are not recommended to watch even news.

Cartoons and movies need to choose a good quality with an intelligent, educational plot. Therefore, it is better to preview or ask about the film of those who are familiar with the plot.

Psychologists even tend to recommend family viewing of movies intended for the adult audience (of course, with your comments in the right places) than cartoons with cartoons that have no special meaning and teaching significance, remarkable only for a rich color palette and perfect graphics.

Can children watch TV when they show training TV shows? Not only it is possible, but also it is necessary, and it is better all family. Here the reasoning and analysis are important during the viewing, it`s good to ask what the child understands, explain something, listen to his point of view.

If you are looking together for some kind of transfer, the meaning of which is ambiguous, your comments are required. Let`s take a simple example with advertising. The child should understand that not everything that is claimed”on TV” really is. It is not necessary to explain it specially, you can just comment out loud, express your attitude, so that the child understands: if a thing is shown in advertising, it does not mean that it is the best, but everything else”sucks”.

This raises the following question: Can children watch TV with one? Scientists say that watching children`s cartoons without the presence of an adult TV is quite acceptable for years with 3-4.

How many children watch TV

Doctors do not advise children to join the TV to 2 or even 3 years. Preschoolers from 3 to 6 years can spend about 20 minutes a day at the screen. Junior schoolchildren (from 6 to 11) will not hurt a 40-minute stay at the TV. Teenagers under the age of 14 can watch TV no more than an hour a day. Young people under the age of 18 are better off for 2 hours.

Of course, solving the problem of child and TV lay on the shoulders of parents, and it is up to them to decide whether or not to allow children how to watch TV. However, it should be borne in mind that, according to scientists, the time that children spend at the TV is growing every year, and along with this indicator, the number of cases of health and psychiatric disorders in children, inadequate reactions and aggression in adolescents is increasing. !!

Therefore, it is logical to try to fill the world of your baby with other interests, give him enough attention and love, help him develop, communicating with living people, and not with painted characters.
