Handmade: embroidery with ribbons

Before starting work, apply the drawing to the paper. The size should exactly match the size of the future work, so choose a sheet of the appropriate size.

Preserve the ribbons of the right colors and sizes in advance. The fabric should be monophonic, without a pattern, sufficiently dense. Use a needle with a wide eyelet, which will include even the widest ribbon.

Put a cloth in the embroidery frame that has not been patterned yet. Cut the tape length of 60 cm. The end should be not straight, but at an angle of 45 degrees. If necessary, put a tip with a match or a cigarette lighter (the synthetic fabric can dissolve and swell). Too long pieces of tape can be crumpled, twisted and tangled when passing over the edge.

To fix the tape on the wrong side, go through the edge of the needle inserted into the needle. Stretch the needle to make a loop. Thanks to her tape will not slip off the needle. At the end, also tie a flat knot. Only then remove the needle on the face.

The simplest,”flat” seam is performed as follows. Fasten the tape on the wrong side, and draw the contour to the front of the face. Make a small stitch and stretch, not tightening the tape, on the wrong side. Bring the needle back to the face as close as possible to the end of the first stitch. As an option, you can twist the tape one or two times so that the reverse side is visible.

Seam”spiral”: fasten the tape on the wrong side, lead to the face in the center of the circle. Twist several times, swipe back to the wrong side, do not tighten the tape – you should get a round petal, like pink. Start the next stitch in the middle between the beginning and the end of the previous one. Gradually increase the radius of the circle and the size of the stitches.

To create a larger visual volume and naturalness of embroidery, use several shades of the same color in the work, smoothly changing from the middle to the edges of the figure or from one edge to the other. Ready work can not be washed in a typewriter and ironed on the face, especially on tapes.
