Calendene, carotene, malic and salicylic acid, resins, essential oils and flavonoids – that`s just not a complete list of active substances that give this small bright flower such a pharmacological value. Calendula tincture, the application which is shown for various diseases, has antiseptic and antiviral effect, strengthens the walls of the vessels and promotes skin regeneration. Water tincture of calendula suppresses viral infections, including herpes, alcohol tincture of calendula helps against acne and inflammatory skin diseases.

Infusions on calendula flowers have always been popular. Earlier they were cooked in clay pots right in the Russian stove. Collected inflorescences, poured cold water and tormented on fire for 1 hour. It resulted in a yellow, dense solution that helped with various ailments: scrofula, rickets, stomach spasms, gallbladder and liver diseases, diseases of the cardiovascular system. With his help, healed ulcers, wounds and cuts, rinsed the sore throat. Alcohol Calendula tincture was treated with stomach diseases, colitis and inflammation of the duodenum.

Today, preparations based on calendula can be purchased at any pharmacy. Alcoholic calendula tincture , produced by the pharmaceutical industry, is taken with hypertension as a choleretic agent (10 drops per 50 g of water), in the treatment of furunculosis and small wounds (a teaspoon of tincture for 500 ml of water).

Home Calendula tincture has a weaker concentration, but this does not reduce its beneficial properties. To make it, you need to grind 4 tbsp. spoons of fresh flowers, put in a glass jar and pour a glass of vodka or diluted alcohol (1: 1). Then close the jar with a lid and put it for a week in a cool place.

Water infusion from inflorescences to cook even faster, but it can be stored no more than 2 days, otherwise it will lose its healing properties. Take 4 tbsp. spoons of fresh flowers, pour two glasses of cold water and heat on a water bath for 10-15 minutes. Cool, strain through a sieve or gauze, dilute with water to the initial volume.
